I hope this short account will interest those who hanker, as I have all my life, for a connection to the earth. This sounds grandiose and poetic and so on, but it isn’t really. How many older people get into gardening? Isn’t this just an expression of our desire to get back into some kind of harmony – on however small a scale – with nature? A domestic echo of Eden?
